Musical Digest: Deformatory, Dissentient, Merkabah and Sorcier des Glaces
The end of the year is closing in slowly and like pretty much every year, new releases are becoming scarce with the coming of winter. One of the few new albums that will come out is Deformatory’s debut album “In the Wake of Pestilence” which will be out on December 6th; just in time so your loved ones, I mean Santa Claus, can wrap it nicely with frills and put it under the Christmas tree for you.
While you’re thinking about which kind of cookies you will leave next to the Christmas tree for Santa this year, listen to the new “Metamorphosis”, 5th track from “In the Wake of Pestilence”.
I don’t know how this eluded me, but I completely missed the release of Dissentient brand new offering “The Archillect EP” that came out last week on November 15th. I’m actually listening to it right now while writing this post and so far I can say that it exceeds my expectations, which were pretty much high following their debut “Black Hole Machine”. The space-theme seems to be even more present in this new release, probably because the keyboards seem to have a bigger role in a few songs. If you like progressive djenty-metal, blending elements of bands such as Hypocrisy, Gojira and Meshuggah to name a few, you will definitely like this EP, which is available for streaming in full on Dissentient’s Bandcamp page. Buy it if you like it, it will be the best 7 dollars you spent in a while.
Quebec melodic heavy metal band Merkabah is working on the release of its third album “Ubiquity” set to be released by the end of the year; unfortunately I was unable to find an actual release date. In the meantime, check out Merkabah’s brand new single “Red Letter Days” from its upcoming album. We will post more info when we have more details about the album release.
Quebec City’s black metallers Sorcier des Glaces have released a 7 minutes teaser with clips from each songs that will be on their next opus “Ritual of the End”. The album was originally set for a release in last July, but was finally postponed and is now set to be released on January 31, 2014 via the German label Obscure Abhorrence Productions. This teaser effectively achieved its goal, I’m teased, I wish we were January 31st already. Sorcier des Glaces has always released quality black metal material and this teaser sounds like a promise of more good stuff from this band. Get teased by Sorcier des Glaces’ new music right below.
