Uigg was formed by Dani Dowling (ex Church/Seraphim Slaughter/Hours End, vocals) and Craig St Jean (ex Primeval/Gravaged/Hours End, drums) in the spring/summer of 2006. They enlisted the assistance of longtime friend Chris “Q” Gaudette (ex Spacecraft Dinner/Church, guitar) and recent acquaintance and music scene newbie Christ “Douce” Doucette on guitar. After writing some material they came across Ryan “Halestorm” Hale (ex bunch of bands in Regina) to complete the quintet on bass. After 3 years in the Uigg fold, Craig St. Jean moved on to pursue other career opportunities, and was replaced in September 2009 by Derrick Doucette (ex Primeval/Seraphim Slaughter/Unhallowed Existence).

Drawing inspiration heavily from thrash, death metal and black metal they’ve developed an aggressive sound which clearly separates them from other heavy bands in the area. They released their crushing debut album To Punish And Enslave through Diminished Fifth Records in late 2008, and self released the 2011 follow up Of Moose And Men, which was nominated for Music PEI and East Coast Music Association awards.  The material on the both albums is raw, heavy, and bursting with energy. When paired with one of the most intense live shows in the Maritimes, Uigg has become an experience that few have words for, but then again broken bones and busted lips can usually speak for themselves.
